The Aqua Jewel turns you into a stealth-like, shimmering figure, similar to a hunter's camouflage spell. This stays for the duration of the buff, regardless of which form or mount you're currently in/on.
Nalash Verdantis spawns on a small rocky island on the Isle of Stars in the Dread Wastes.
The respawn timer I witnessed was 25 minutes.
Like all Jinyu rares, he has a couple of nasty abilities that you need to watch out for:
Rain Dance: Keep moving till the cast has complete! It's a oneshotter.
Torrent: Interrupt if you can. Else it also kills.
Apart from that, try and keep your health up and you're fine. I did it in Guardian spec with the free pvp gear.
Loot
Drops: Sack of Gems, Hollow Reed, Chestplate of Manifest Dread.
The Hollow Reed is actually a blue water strider pet called Aqua Strider and as of patch 5.03 bind on pick-up:
It is now patch 5.03 on the Beta, and rares have been implemented! The respawn timer is very high, and I witnessed a respawn of less than 30 minutes. There seem to be about 8 rares per zone, and most have been found. Not all the loot is implemented yet.
Per zone, we can find:
A Hozen
A Mantid
A Yaungol
A Pandaren
A Mogu Sorceror
A Mogu Warrior
A Saurok
Theses rares are the equivalent of the "Blooy Rare" and "Frostbitten" achievements of TBC and WotLK expansions, but the achievement is called "Glorious".
Npcscan Autoadd also takes these rares in its database when you mouseover/target them, but it doesn't find them on its own via cache. Once they've been detected for the first tie, you only need to clear your cache when you next log on.
I'll introduce the new rares as I come across them in the next posts.
Happy hunting!
While I'm very good at finding rares once I know where to look for, I fail at actually discovering them!
Therefore, I would like to thank all the sharp-eyed folks on the Petopia forums, for discovering the very first rares this patch.
I also came across a fantastic post on wowhead, where I got most of this information from, rares, locations, drops... since I killed most of them, but not all. The person in question is Ashyen from the MoP Beta Realm Mekkatorque. Ashyen's finding on the MoP Beta Rares
Horde players can kill Alani from the safety of the horde shrine. If you're on a PVP realm and horde, it might be a good idea to pull Alani from there (thanks to Blueprint for the info)
Careful: Bug or not, using the crystal doesn't automatically tag Alani to you!
I've been stubborn and levelled to 90 in the Beta... I really wanted to be able to fly and search for these rares, but as far as we know, there's only Galleon, the Sha of Anger, which both are the rare elite world bosses, and the mysterious Alani, a normal rare up to this day.
A fellow Petopian, TheDoomcookie found an npc sitting tucked away on a mountain, that tells us more about Alani.
Loh-Ki watching as Alani glides past
Loh-Ki, the Storm Watcher
Hmm, so we need to harness the very essence of the sky...
TheDoomcookie also found some more information on this on WOWDB:
But exactly where we get the shards from, and what happens when we remove the shroud that keeps Alani safe so far, noone knows yet. Will she be the new time-lost? Will we have to collect the crystals and wait till she spawns? Will we have to mount her and fight her like Aeonaxx ?
I'm looking forward to finding the answer!
Edit:
On the Beta, a game master has given the crystal that removes Alani's shroud to a player.
The following video shows the fight, but no loot has been implemented yet.
What we need to find out now: Is this a zone drop? A lucky world drop? Does it drop off specific quest mobs, any mobs, in any zone? Maybe more players will come across a sky shard as they quest in the newest beta build. However, so far, the shards are bind-on-pickup, so if you want to get ten to forge the sky crystal, it might take a while!
Edit 3:
Pockethealer, a player on the beta, told me that he's in possession of two skyshards as I write this. One shard dropped from an elite hozen near Major Nanners in Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
The other dropped from 'tiny men" during brew dailies in the Valley of the Four Winds.
Another skyshard dropping during dailies. The screenshot belongs to Highlanddevil (Petopia Forums)

This screenshot shows the skyshard being looted from a dailies reward bag, also by Highlanddevil (Petopia forums)
Himmelssplitter = Skyshard
So far, we can assume that skyshards only drop from level 90 dailies- and regular mobs (like the elite hozen), but they're not zone specific. With mobs, I mean those that are meant to be killed by level 90 players.
Edit 4 (25.08.2012)
Thanks to Esinar and his dedication of farming the ten sky shards, we have a confirmation that Alani in fact drops the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent as we thought he would.
Esinar's excellent kill video is below:
Future questions:
If the crystal is consumed upon removing the shroud, what happens if Alani kills you?
What happens if you get disconnected during the fight?
When I heard Chief Saliys yell "Loot and Pillage, bwahahaha'" across the Valley of the Four Winds, I thought I'd check if he and Galleon have turned to rare elites too, just like the Sha of Anger and indeed they did!
Sadly, that's all I can find out for now, noone is taking these guys on, and we still don't know if a loottable was added or not.
Humm... I did throw a moonfire at him to see if Saliys would get targettable to see his nameplate, but he despawned when I shadowmelded. People were not happy with me :)
However, Aeonaxx in Deepholm also despawns when you fight him and drop aggro. If this carries on to live, we won't get to see much of these world rares if every passing hunter or nightelf just attacks, feigns death, shadowmelds and rare goes poof!
Nevermind, while I typed this post, he respawned again!
This morning, I found the Sha in a third place, and upon looking at the map, I saw a little portrait that brings you to its journal page with the spells he uses etc. Noone's been brave enough to take him on yet!
...so I threw a wrath at him and got put in my place very quickly. However, when I ressed, he had despawned.
Since the last Beta patch, Kun Lai Summit is open to the testers. I have a special fascination with this place (maybe it reminds me a bit of the mysteries of Storm Peaks), so I had to go and explore it.
I found a way up Mount Neverest, and saw my lovely windserpent again, this time no longer a placeholder model!
Wild Onyx Serpent
On my way back, I noticed the Sha of Anger call through the zone. I didn't see him before, so I assumed that he spawned. Promptly, I made my way to him. A few other players saw him too, and I noticed he now has a silver winged dragon around his portrait, as opposed to previous beta versions.
Sha of Anger
However, as I was alt-tabbed out and came back to look at the screen, he had vanished, and the world server went down. But a couple of hours later, I found him again in a slightly different area. I managed to take a short movie of him in movement, but shortly after the world server went down again and he vanished. I'm not sure if everyone saw him, as there were a couple of people around that paid no notice to him. The general chat disappeared too, not just in that zone it seems, so I couldn't ask the other players.
