[MoP] Maps for the rare hunter pets (spoiler)

These maps are the combined work of Kalliope, Quivering, Shinryu Masaki, Golden and myself (Petopia Forums). If I forgot to credit anyone, please shout in the comments! They "should" be correct, but there can be minor differences. 2. Thanks and you're very welcome Royi! I've been trying to track Patrannache... it's near to impossible!

  3. I will definitely be using this to get my rares later, so beforehand, thank you very much for this.

  4. The turtles tracks also showed up on the little single island where the quest useing a shell to sums a boss like crawfish to kill is at. They just seemed to go back and forth for a bit but no turtle and no track anyway in the water around the island.

    1. Thank you for that. I have no idea where that island is as I haven't done any dailies, but I'll update the maps whenever I see that things aren't accurate. Just need to get lucky with Bloodtooth passing the halfway mark, he does take an hour to go from A to B...

    2. i believe there to be a bug with this one. blizz say no but how come i have followd his tracks back and forth and no sign of him? And, then finally when i did find him and put the flare up it lasted for about 2 secs and then he was gone. never more to be seen. i didnt even get a chance to click on let alone tame him.

    3. Which pet are you talking about?

    4. its most likely phasing then ;)

  5. I didn't see any phasing for Rockhide in the northwest corner and I haven't done any quests in the zone. Is the phasing if you've done quests in the zone? Also, he definitely goes to the west side of Sik'vess before turning around.

I have Glimmer's path up on the forums now if that helps. :)

  6. Thanks Kalli, I'll add your Glimmer map. I haven't done any quest in Townlong on the char I was there with, he disappeared where the mantids battle. The strange thing was that bith me and Loki didn't see him for ages (I assumed he'd turn around) and eventually we found his tracks in the south again going back up.

    1. Thanks Sams! I've actually updated since then, since I was able to track the little bugger down again and followed him. :)

  7. Hey Sneaky, love what your putting together here! I'd let to let you know that for Portent, on the western end of the zone the tracks continue go up a little further. I tracked them to right in front of Bai-Jin the Butcher where they stopped.

  8. You can call me Sams, the sneaky comes from me always doing silly sneaky druid things :)
Thank you for the Portent head's up, I'll see where that guy is and adjust it. I wish the routes addon would work, or something that just tracks your path, but as long as it's more or lless as it is and people find tracks, I'm happy.

    1. Haha, ok I wasn't sure. The full "Sneaky Sams" seemed too long so I naturally just picked the first part. Noted! I followed Portent basically almost straight north from where the line on the maps currently ends to that mob. =)

  11. Just tamed him not two minutes ago on Argent Dawn EU thinking, "Oh, it'll take me to the end of the expac for this..." Nope! THANK YOU for these maps! <3 All of my love. ALL OF IT.

  12. Grats you two :) I took my huntress to jade Forest last night, stumbled over Glimmer right in front of me, and Savage was up too! It really helps when only us hunters can see the beast tracks ;)

  13. thanks alot for the maps i found Bloodtooth just today between the cradle of chi-ji and nayeli lagoon right where the map says he pats.one thing thow could you add arrows as to the direction they patrol? also do they despawn or turn around back on the path?

  14. I just tamed the crane. The footprints are very very small but they do stand out against green grass a bit better. I was able to fly but very close to the ground. I honestly think you might be better off running on the ground as much as possible with a flying mount to get out of trouble. Happy hunting!

    1. I also tamed the crane yesterday. Found his tracks but were unable to follow them since they seemed to dissapear in both directions. Luckily for me they were pretty close to the end of his route so I took a point and stood there for 10~ min keeping flare up and eventually he walked into it :)

  15. Just tamed Savage, with your guide it took approx 15 minutes, awesome work you did there.

  16. i have a question about the trackable pets , do they have special abilities?
in cataclysm ghost pets where rare and it was worth going for them cause they had something nice extra then there " normal " relatives . i tamed quilen and the porcupine. i had the normal versions already and i couldnt fine anything different . but then there rare once can only be used in BM.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. in cata the ghost pets were a whole diffrent type of pet.example: a spirit cat and a spirit crab have the same moves due to both being spirit beasts.a cat and a spirit cat however are not the same due to one being a cat and one being a spirit beast.these pets do not have diffrent moves but they DO have diffrent skins then anything else.

    2. thank you sooo much for posting this - savage can be tamed by non BM too.

  17. ok i have tamed EVERY pet in mop now(thanks to your guide :)) and iv ever tamed 3 of the 4 quilen colors but by FAR the hardest pet to track is the crane.i must have checked his path 8 times when i can normally find a rare in one go.today i got jsut lucky enuff to find his tracks but i still couldint pinpoint him and lost the tracks...checked multiple spotsin both directions cuz i didint know which way he went and didint see tracks i gave up and camped a spot for an hour n a half b4 the thing pated into the flare...he is THAT hard to track at least to me.gl to anyone who wants the crane.ur gonna need it lol.also its nice to not he takes around 3 hours to pat a full trip if u want to camp him do what i did and camp on the long southern strip.look up a video of his full patrol and find a spot on the strip he will patrol thru and just sit there flaring.minimize ur game screen and watch youtube thru a browser or something lol.gl all and ty for this guide.

    1. Were his tracks backwards for you too? As in the toes face the opposite way of which he is going. I have him, Stompy and Portullent (in green and purple). I am now trying to get the strider and the silkworm. Tricky little boogers!

  19. ive done every quests i can in Vale of Eternal Blossoms but yet i still get phased when i get close to the end of the tracks why is that? cant they fix this crap

Just found your site after deciding to hunt down Savage, found him right in the bottom SW corner of his path and tamed him easily; your map helped a great deal as I was originally looking too far west.

  21. I found savages tracks but i couldnt spot him anywhere :(

    ReplyDelete
  22. i have been referring to this for all of them and have had a real luck streak got Pattranache, all colors of portent, savage, the strider in dread wastes, and the turtle in krasarang wilds... thank you so much this was very helpful

    ReplyDelete
  23. caught pattranache, savage, bloodtooth, portent, rock hide and bristle pine thanks to the maps, thanks for uploading them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I followed Savage's map, and found his tracks around 52.30, followed them BACKWARDS, and tamed him. All within about 10 minutes. :) I thought he was going to be impossible to find, how easy! Thank you so much!!

  25. After hours of searching and many hours of wild goose (crane?) chases, I finally tamed Patrannache. I stood in the field next to where my farm is, spammed flare for about 15 mins, and she popped up. I'd been tracking her earlier, but lost her when she crossed into the water. I gave up, flew here and hoped for the best, and it worked! Now the only one I need is Glimmer. I like the way that they made it so that only a few of them are exotic, since I am a MM, not BM hunter. Thanks for the great maps!

  26. Got him at 12:50 AM Server Time on Uldaman. Co-ordinates 46,37 in Forest Heart. Paw Prints are still backwards which screwed me up for a bit. This guide was really helpful...thanks loads :) He's gorgeous!

  27. Great maps! Really helped me the couple times I lost track of Patrannache. I just tamed him mere minutes before writing this. I tracked him ALL the way from where her skirts the border of the Krasarang Wilds, across the river and through that big field full of hostile mobs. I was starting to lose hope that I'd never get caught up to him when for kicks I shot off a flare and sure enough there he was! I had to follow him a bit till he was away from hostiles but it was worth it!

Also tamed Glimmer the other day, followed him all the way from the Temple of the Jade serpent, up to The Arboretum, missed him turning around and tried to follow and just decided to go wait at other end. I sat where I was sure he would path through and just kept a flare up while watching some videos of his pathing [including that wonderful video by Kalliope] and realized I was in wrong spot! I rushed over and lit up a flare when I found the prints and luckily he walked right into it.

tl;dr Thanks to these maps and Kalliope's video I was able to tame both Glimmer and Pattranache, next up, Stomper!

  29. Tamed Savage last night on Proudmoore! Saw tracks on the ground and decided to follow them, took me an hour and a half, and walked all the way across Jade Forest before I finally popped a flare and found him. Found this site today and can't wait to find the rest of these guys! Thanks for posting this!

  32. Trammel -Mok'Nathal Just tamed Hexapos. I think it's worth noting that his tracks are "backward" in the sense that what you think are toes are actually the back of his foot. The single "Toe" is in the front. I made the mistake of tracking him the other way a couple of times (yea I know, slow learner) and lost him before he despawned.

  33. Thanks for this, made levelling my hunter more enjoyable through MOP :). Memo to myself though, when tracking and finding Bristlespine, make sure I am the right lvl >.<! Anyhow, awesome guide! :D

  34. Thanks a lot for this nice maps :) My husband found them yesterday when I asked him how to get the new pets. I found two of them yesterday - Savage and Stompy but it took me around 2 hours to tame them. :/ Don´t know if I am willing to hunt the other seven. ;) But indeed - thanks a lot for the maps. It helped me a lot to find them. :)

  35. Thanks so much for these maps they work great, i tamed savage in just a few minutes, and im working on the others now, and yah it's better to have a flying mount!!

  36. Thank you for this, because of this I was able to capture every rare but the blue and red quillin.

  37. I found this site today, and not 2 hours later have 5 of the pets. Thank you so much for this.

  38. OK, I've managed to find Savage's tracks 4 times now....every time I backtrack them like I've read...and every time either the tracks disappear, or I pop flares all around where the tracks end and there's nothing....not sure what I'm doing wrong here...any tips?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi all good tips but i think Savage is winding me up.

    1. What I did was just have a picture of the map, and following the rare in the game. I used a paint program (Adobe Illustrator) to draw the line into the picture, where I simultaneously watched the rare walk in the game. I hope that makes sense? The only addon I know and love that allows you to draw routes (though they're not very great for these kinds of wavy routes) is "Routes".

  42. I would like to know if Bombyx has tracks or not and if he goes around in a circle or wanders in the area circled.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Bombyx leaves tracks that look like little silkweed plants. There's no way knowing which direction they point to, and he wanders the circled area very randomly, stops and turns and it's impossible to make a path. So you'll just have to find out where new tracks come, and just use a lot of flare and hope for the best.

  45. Just got him after 5 hours stright. Named him Evasive. Cuz he is (:

  46. Nice sharing! Its so much helpful for me!...

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've tracked 5 of the pets so far... and by far the hardest out of the goat, the turtle, the tiger the crane and glimmer had to be glimmer. All of the others took me a maximum of an hour and (probably just by dumb luck) i caught the crane in the matter of 15 minutes. sat at one end point and just flared till he popped up. Glimmer took me for ever just because of him every so often not leaving tracks or losing him in the water.

    ReplyDelete
  48. on windward isle theres a cat that looks exactly like savage. so no need to track him and waste all that time.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's not exactly like Savage, as there is only one cat with the bright blue eyes and white fur. The one you mean is this one: http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/siberiantigerwhite.html

    2. Savage is the only white tiger in the game with that shade of blue eyes and no pupil. Just tamed her at 1:30pm Pacific

  49. Must say thanks for such dedicaded and hard work with this, have help a lot and was just an accident I learned about these rare hunter pets a few days ago. So far gotten Portent, Brittlespine, Stompy and Hexapon, one of few good things with low-pop realms, not much fight over them. ;>

My one questions is for Portent however, have its route changed now with the big hole Horde is diggin in the Vale? Since its in the route it walks. Know they moved that Tidehunter rare from the place to another location, so thought they possible changed Portents route as well. :)

I tried to tame him, but to no avail. and yes i am a bm. I even tried to freeze him in place, but never got any aggro on him. Kinda lost.. Thanks Linda
